There’s a freedom that comes from holding paradox. One of my favorites—both liberating and humbling—is this: ✨
You are a unique huge deal.
And you are simultaneously inconsequential.
Let’s unpack it. 🧺
💎 You Are a Unique Huge Deal
You are one-of-a-kind. No one has your exact chemistry of gifts, wounds, humor, sensuality, instinct, insight, or timing. You have lived a life no one else has lived, with a body no one else has had, under a sky that was uniquely yours in every moment. 🌌
That means you matter. The you that you bring into a room, a relationship, a decision, a dream—it shifts things. People feel you. Your presence has weight. Your love changes lives. Your absence is noticed. Your voice, your vision, your yes and your no all ripple.
When you forget this, you play small. You wait for permission. You assume someone else is more qualified, more magnetic, more 'meant for it.' But no one else is meant for your path. You are. Your contribution is unrepeatable. That is sacred. That is a huge deal. 🌟
So don’t minimize it. Don’t shy away from your bigness out of fear it’ll make others uncomfortable. Don’t confuse self-rejection with humility.
True humility isn’t shrinking—it’s showing up fully while knowing you’re neither above nor below anyone else.
Finding Yourself vs. Creating Yourself—Walking the Middle Path
There comes a point in the journey of self-growth where we realize that the tension between who we are and who we become is not a battle but a dance. 💃🕺 This is the middle path—the space between self-discovery and self-creation...
You Are Also Inconsequential 🪶
🪐 At the same time… you are one speck on one planet in one galaxy in one sliver of time. You will be forgotten by most people in a hundred years. Your Instagram won’t be archived in a museum. Your peak moments won’t stop the earth from spinning. Your lowest points didn’t destroy the cosmos.
And that’s not sad. It’s relieving.
You don’t have to get it all right. You don’t have to make every word count. You don’t have to leave a legacy or build an empire or fix every system.
You get to try. You get to be. You get to fail. And it’s okay.
You are inconsequential not because you’re worthless—but because this life is a game that was never meant to be won. It was meant to be played. 🎲
☯️ Holding Both at Once
When you live as if you’re only a huge deal, you may become self-obsessed. You spiral in perfectionism. You feel the weight of every decision. You over-identify with your work, your brand, your pain, your story. 🎭
💤 When you live as if you’re only inconsequential, you may become passive. You feel powerless. You avoid action. You think nothing you do matters, so you disconnect.
The sweet spot is in the middle:
“My presence matters deeply—and the world doesn’t revolve around me.”
“What I do has impact—and it’s okay if I don’t know the full outcome.”
“I will give this life everything—and not take it so damn seriously.”
This paradox is one of the greatest nervous system regulators I know. When I feel pressure to perform, I lean into the inconsequential. When I feel self-doubt creeping in, I lean into the unique huge deal.
Both truths nourish me in different ways. 🌿
A Walking Paradox
If paradoxes interest you, check out this article I wrote last year. It unpacks some of my more seemingly contradictory opinions—and how they actually make sense together ☯️
🌱 Practice: Balancing the Paradox
Here are a few ways to practice holding this paradox gently in your own life:
1. Journal Both Sides ✍️
On one page, write why you are a huge deal. What makes you irreplaceable? What has only you done?
On the next page, write why you are free to relax. What is outside your control? What will keep spinning even if you stop trying?
2. Choose Impact Without Attachment 🎯
Pick one thing you care about—art, friendship, healing, parenting, writing, business. Show up fully. Give it your heart. Then let go of how it’s received. Let it exist on its own legs.
3. Practice Laughing at Yourself 😂
Seriously. This is underrated. Let yourself see the silliness, the awkwardness, the drama of your mind. Find the comic relief in your spiritual journey. You’ll feel lighter—and more human.
🌀 Final Thought
You are a universe unto yourself. You are a dot on a map of infinity.
You are someone’s miracle. You are the breeze passing by.
You are the love of your life. You are compost.
You are a unique huge deal. You are also inconsequential.
Soak it in 🌍💫🙏🏻
